Letter, 1850 Mar. 6, Columbia, S.C., to "My dear Sir."

Letter alerting a friend that his note with the Commercial Bank of Columbia for $3400 had come due and been renewed; other matters discussed include concern over relations with the North, relocation of slaves into territories, possiblity of division of Texas into three states to protect Southern interests in Congress, and opposition to the convention planned at Nashville, [Tenn., 9-12 June 1850], promoting secession by the South.
